Madonna has announced her highly anticipated new album Confessions II, which will be released on July 3rd via Warner Records.

The new album links directly to the iconic predecessor “Confessions on a Dance Floor” (2005, place 1 and 3 x platinum in Germany) and consistently continues its idea.

Madonna brings the attitude behind the new work herself to the point by quoting the first lines of her song One Step Away: “People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: a ritualistic space where movement replaces language.” She adds: “When Stuart Price and I started working on this album, that was our manifesto”:

We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect — with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people.
