Following a couple of acclaimed yet uncommercially succesful records (Jeopardy and From The Lion’s Mouth are widely considered to be two of the best post-punk releases of all-time), British outfit The Sound were asked by their label to write a poppier, increasingly commercially viable LP. 1982’s All Fall Down is a dark, anxious, and driven LP which serves as their most left-field listen. It ultimately led to the band being dropped and the label refusing to promote it. Considered by many fans today as being The Sound’s most accomplished record, this dissonant and austere album still stands up as being one of the greatest British records of the early 1980s, and it left a clear mark on the early 2000s post-punk revival scene and the more experimental leaning groups like say, Women, Viet Cong, Gilla Band, and Protomartyr.
