Opis
Rhino Records reissues in two versions (first mastering on CD and 2004 remaster) the original English edition of the first, legendary album by The Animals released in October 1964 by EMI on the Columbia Records label. As is known, it is one of the most important R&B revival albums of the ’60s, produced by Mickie Most with the assistance of sound engineer Val Valentin and containing 12 tracks to which the double CD tracklist adds the very famous version of the American traditional folk “The House Of The Rising Sun” released on 45 rpm and with which that same year Eric Burdon (lead vocals), Hilton Valentine (guitar and vocals), Alan Price (keyboards and vocals), Chas Chandler (bass and vocals) and John Steel (drums and percussion) reached number one on the sales charts in their homeland as well as in the United States and Canada. Characterized by a rough and gritty sound with Burdon’s powerful voice in the foreground, the album contains several covers of rhythm & blues and rock and roll songs by John Lee Hooker, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and Bobby Troup, the traditional “Bury My Body” arranged by Price and “Story Of Bo Diddley”, a re-adaptation by Burdon himself of the famous “Bo Diddley” written and recorded by the African-American musician of the same name in 1955.
