Opis
Formed in Los Angeles at the start of the 80s, Wasted Youth played fast, aggressive hardcore punk in the vein of Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Gang Green, characterized by short, fast songs railing against the government, the system and authority in general.
The debut ‘Reagan’s In’ is just 15 minutes long, and features cover art by the legendary Pushead (Metallica, Misfits). The EP followed five years later, and saw the band tour with the likes of Ramones and Bad Brains. ‘Black Daze’ saw the band take a more metal direction and contains a raw cover of Van Halen’s ‘On Fire’. The line up on the record featured drummer Joey Castillo who would go on to play with Danzig and Queens of the Stone Age, and bassist Dave Kushner who later formed Velvet Revolver with Slash from Guns N’ Roses and Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots.
This release features exclusive liner notes from respected journalist Mark Freebase who conducted an interview with Dave Kushner especially for this project. Around the release of ‘Black Daze’, as Guns N’ Roses exploded with ‘Appetite for Destruction’, several iconic photos of Slash were taken wearing a Wasted Youth T shirt. The guitar legend recently offered an official quote upon hearing about this reissue, stating: “Wasted Youth was the rallying cry for rebellious kids such as myself who were wasted, anti-social, anti-establishment rock n roll enthusiasts, they were fucking great.”
CD 1 features their second, more metal sounding studio album from 1988 ‘Black Daze’.
CD 2 features their first studio effort, the decidedly hardcore punk sounding ‘Regan’s In’, originally released in 1981, coupled with the EP ‘Get Out Of My Yard!’ from 1986.
