Opis
Originally released on Projekt: November 1985 – Remastered Reissue: October 31, 2025
40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of Black Tape For A Blue Girl founder Sam Rosenthal’s first cassette tape!
Pulsing, minimalist synthesizers emerge from this time capsule, imbued with the vintage sound of the era.
Released in 1985, Rosenthal’s eighth album was the first to include vocals by future Black Tape frontman Oscar Herrera, as well as guest musicians (two of whom would later join the band).
Rosenthal remixed “Islands” from new digital transfers of the original 1/4-inch 4-track tapes.
“I was 19 when I recorded it,” Sam reflects, “and I released it around my 20th birthday. Nearly 40 years later, what amazes me is how good these recordings sound, considering they were made with just two synthesizers and some cheap microphones, running through a cheap Radio Shack mixer on a 4-track.
They sound really good in this new mix. It was nice to go back and appreciate what the old Sam envisioned.”
