Opis
“Ornithology: The Best of Bird” is a new collection of 11 recordings by legendary jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker. It covers the legendary artist’s most important years with Savoy Records between 1945 and 1953, including the tracks “Ko-Ko”, “Billie’s Bounce” and “Groovin’ High”. The back of the newly designed sleeve features a new essay by GRAMMY® Award-winning author Ashley Kahn.
Charlie Parker, considered the greatest jazz saxophonist of all time, revolutionized the genre with the creation of bebop, characterized by danceable rhythms and rhythmic consistency.
As soon as Parker joined Jay McShann’s band in 1940, he recorded his first solos and began touring the United States. Here his nickname “Yardbird” was shortened to “Bird”. He recorded his most popular records, such as Bird’ at the ‘Roost’ and ‘An Evening at Home with the Charlie Parker Sextet’ between ’49 and ’50.
