Opis
Recorded between 1957 and 1958 and released in 1961, Lush Life captures John Coltrane just before his creative explosion into the avant-garde. These sessions bridge the gap between his time with Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk, showcasing a more reflective, romantic side of his playing. The title track alone — a sweeping 14-minute meditation — stands among the most soulful performances of his career.
Joined by sidemen including Red Garland, Donald Byrd, and Earl May, Coltrane delivers a set that’s both intimate and emotionally charged. From the gentle swing of “Like Someone in Love” to the uptempo fire of “I Hear a Rhapsody,” Lush Life is a must-have for both longtime Coltrane fans and those seeking an entry point into his world.
